Since setting up his consultancy business in 2003, Tom has worked to combine experience gained as a commercial litigation lawyer with his in-depth specialist academic knowledge of the negotiation and dispute resolution processes to become a recognised expert in the field of negotiation.
As well as preparing and assisting clients with what are often complex negotiations and disputes set in a range of commercial contexts, he has also developed extensive experience designing and delivering specialist negotiation and dispute resolution training seminars. He travels a great deal and regularly works for clients based in Europe, Canada, the GCC Gulf countries and the South East Asia.
In addition to his commercial consultancy work, Tom is an Associate of the University of Edinburgh Business School where he has lectured in negotiation on their MBA programme since 2007 as well as running negotiation workshops on other MSc programmes and on the Enterprise and Business Skills course for PhD students.
Tom also lectured at the University of Dundee School of Law between 2009 and 2017 where he taught on their LLM in International Dispute Resolution. Tom received his PhD from the University of Strathclyde School of Law for his research into negotiation behaviour within the legal profession where he also contributed to teaching on their LLM in Mediation.
